Tamica and Anthony both work with kids—Tamica is a child care worker and Anthony is a teacher. Their lovely red, white and black wedding took place in Long Beach, California. There were plenty of wonderful DIY touches like Tamica’s aunt making her bouquet and all the centerpieces. We are so happy you shared your special day with us!

How did the two of you meet? We met online on EHarmony. Describe your engagement: Our engagement was a little over a year. During that time we did marriage counseling which was a wonderful experience and something that we benefited from greatly. Personal or handmade details: My aunt made my wedding bouquet and centerpieces. My bridesmaids and I made the bridesmaid bouquets and boutonnieres for the groom and groomsmen. Describe your wedding flowers: My wedding bouquet included red roses and white hydrangeas. My bridesmaids bouquet had white roses and white hydrangeas. Memories and Stories about the Day: I was running tremendously late for my wedding ceremony. When I finally arrived I remember seeing my handsome husband standing there and the look that he had was the feelings that I had at that very moment…relief. Your first dance song: Des’ree “Kissing You” The thing that we would have done differently is? Something that we would have changed about our wedding day is the amount of guest we had. We definitely would have increased the number of guests so more people could have been apart of our special day. Also, I would have limited the amount of “do it yourself” projects which can take a lot of time. Our favorite detail of the wedding was: Our favorite detail of our wedding was taking pictures together prior to our wedding ceremony. It gave us a chance to relax and have a moment to ourselves. We also loved dancing throughout the garden to greet our guests after we exchanged our vowels. Your advice for other plus size brides: My advice is to feel confident and comfortable. If you’re going to wear shapewear ensure that it’s a comfortable fit and is convenient. Also, unexpected things may occur throughout your wedding day that may not be what you’ve planned. At the end of the day remember that you are marrying someone you love and that’s all that matters. Three adjectives that describe the day: Picturesque, phenomenal, priceless What has surprised you most during the first few months of marriage? What surprised us both about our first few months of marriage was our struggle with time management. In order for any marriage to be strong and grow you need time. Each meal that is shared, movie watched, and date night out is time invested toward a better future.
