PLANNING | Keeping Your Getup Comfortable For The Wedding Reception

FALL MIDWEST ELEGANCE | ALEXIS JUNE WEDDINGS

Your wedding day is the most important day of your life, and so you want to look amazing. But not only this, you need people to look at you because you are full of style, grace, and the fact is that it’s your day, so you rule the roost! And while looking a million dollars means the finest dress, and the best shoes, these little things can prove to be a bit uncomfortable. So, as soon as the wedding photos and the ceremony are done, you should take the opportunity and get yourself comfy for the wedding reception. How can you do this?

Get Comfy Shoes!

For the most part, you’re not going to be dancing, you’re going to be walking around, socializing with everybody you haven’t had a chance to speak to yet. You need something comfy. And, remember, your wedding train is probably going to cover your shoes anyway, so why don’t you get something glam, but comfortable. Various suppliers like Alegria Shoe Shop provide unique designs, but with something that’s comfortable. You need a comfy pair of shoes to see you through the evening, just make sure that you’re wearing your bride shoes when the proper photo opportunities present themselves, such as the first dance and cutting the cake.

Get An Assistant!

The call of nature is going to happen, let’s get that out of the way! But it’s a two person job, so if you are wearing a big ball gown, you’re going to need another person to either hold the train, or help you step out of it completely so you can go to the bathroom! It’s probably best to get the head bridesmaid to spare you any sense of embarrassment! But why should you care? It’s your day!

Pick A Time To Ditch The Train

If you don’t know when you’re going to bustle the train, it’s best to pick a time well in advance. Some people do it after the first dance, but some ditch the train after the ceremony is done. One little tip: make sure that you have someone check that the hem of your gown is even after bustling, you don’t want it to look like a wound that’s been stitched up!

Practice Walking In It

Before the big day, you’ve spent most of your time stood still in the dress, so make sure you can get a round in it at least! After all of the alterations have been made, you need to make sure that it’s, not just comfortable, but it’s practical! So, take the opportunity to walk around in it as much as possible. And as you move around, make sure that you lift the down gently, as this will help to prevent some tears and stains that can crop up without you realizing.

Your wedding reception is party time, the opportunity to let your hair down, and enjoy yourself. So make sure that you feel comfortable in the thing you’ve paid a lot of money for. You’ve got a lot of partying to do during the night, and you want the dress to be a memento of your perfect day, so make sure you look after it, and stay comfy.
