Being a Plus Size Bride
Being a bride in general can be, oh so stressful: setting a date, finding a venue, food, entertainment, the list goes on. But when you add in being a plus size bride you deal with all those same things things and then some.
I have heard horror stories of how hard it is/was being a plus size bride and it just breaks my heart because being engaged and getting married should be the most exciting time of your life. Who wouldn’t love, planning an event where friends and family watch you exchange vows with the spouse that you love and then a party afterwards? Ok, sorry that was the wedding planner coming out in me. LOL But the main thing that always resonates in plus size bride’s minds is “How am I going to look?”
The weird thing about this question is that not all plus size brides feel this way, but why?
It’s about Image. Image is all about how YOU perceive yourself.
I myself, am a very outgoing, social and bubbly person that has fun in any situation. I have been big pretty much all my life, well I guess except when I was in elementary school but that’s a whole nother situation. So for me people have always seen me as a big girl and excepted me. But I have always been told, time and time again, that it has to do with my personality and how I see myself.
Yes, I am big, beautiful and sexy and if you don’t know you better ask somebody.
I still go out and get looks because it is all about how I see myself. This is why the plus size modeling world has flourished so. Plus size models are working their beautiful bodies and letting it be know that “I am fierce, no matter what size I am”. Once you embrace you and how you look and feel, TRUST ME,everyone around you will start looking at you differently and take notice.
This is what plus size brides have to do. And until we are able to do this, we all will have the same fears and frustrations about being a plus size bride.
