Staunton Train Station Anniversary Session by Laurnen D Rogers Photography

When this session came across my computer screen I was so excited!!  One because once again I love any and everything with a vintage feel and two because it was in the same hometown as my college and three because it included a fellow Mary Baldwin College squirrel.

This couple’s story is AMAZING and Lauren {Lauren D. Rogers Photography} did a phenomenal job capturing this fantastic anniversary shoot.

When Christina and Dylan were married, they weren’t able to budget a wedding photographer into their wedding. So when their 1 year anniversary rolled around, they knew they wanted to have a few photos taken of them together that captured their playful relationship and vintage style. In choosing a location, the couple decided on the Staunton, Va., train station, which has been in active use since 1854.

The location not only provided vintage charm, it also served as the starting point of their relationship. While a grad student at Mary Baldwin College, Christina volunteered to pick up a fellow student’s brother from the train station when her friend was unable to meet him. Sparks flew, the couple recognized the interests they shared -such as an undying love for all things vintage and steampunk – and before you know it, they were planning a low-key DIY wedding.

Throughout their courtship, the train station played an important part in their relationship, as they traveled back and forth halfway across the country to see each other. When they decided to have photos made for their 1-year anniversary, they knew that the station they met would play strongly into the shoot. Christina chose to wear a vintage silhouette dress similar in style to her wedding dress. A vintage train car provided a secondary location for photos that spoke to the couple’s story.

The laid-back nature of the shoot allowed Christina and Dylan’s somewhat silly personalities and adorable comfort level with each other to shine through in the photos. They were truly a breath of fresh air to work with!
