Real Wedding Wednesday: E-Session in Ontario

I swear this is my favorite day of the week because I get to share with you lovely couples that embody the principle philosophy of Pretty Pear Bride, which is bridal inspiration for plus size brides.  And each and every week I am amazed and astonished at the glorious images that I’m able to share with you.

Today’s future bride, Shana MacDonald of Whimsy Weddingday (Check out her great blog chronicling her journey as a bride to be) and I know each other through a group that we both belong to, #TWIPS (there is a banner on the site for more information) so when she submitted her e-session I was so happy that this wonderful group had brought us together.  Because her pictures are fantastic and it’s always good to put a face to a name or should I say twitter handle.  LOL

Enjoy!!!!

Shana and Dave

Our photos were taken in Sandwich town in Windsor Ontario in November of 2010. Dave and I both love the fall but becasue I am teacher getting married in the fall is pretty tough (we are getting married July 22nd of this year Eeep!) This part of the city has some of oldest historic buildings in the area and Dave, being a history buff, was at home right away. I think our photographer learned alot that day, as did I! The indoor shots are at a local pub. We both have Irish hertiage in our families and coudln’t resist adding a Guiness or two in the mix!

The story of us as a couple has an interesting beginning. It was a very cold day in February and a a few friends and I decided to go out and about. Little did I know I would end up at one of the most horrible bars in all of Windsor. No, I am not going to share the name. While waiting at the bar to get a drink that night, I began talking to a man. My first words were “I feel so old to be in this bar”. The man smiled at me and said “how old do you think I am?” He proceeded to tell me that he was nine years older then me. Insert foot in mouth! Even so, we continued to talk and agreed to meet up at another bar the next night. We did not exchange numbers, as that would have been too easy! He kissed me on the hand and went on his way. However the man had quite a bit to drink that night and when he woke up in the morning he could not remember where he was supposed to meet me, so that was the end of their story.

Until…
Two weeks later at another, much more appropriate, bar I met another man. He said to me that I looked familiar and I told him that he said that to all the girls! We ended up exchanging numbers and going out on a few dates. After a few dates, my friend asked me about the other man that I had met and questioned how similar he was to this fellow. Suddenly I remembered the kiss on the hand and quickly asked the second man about it. He remembered immediately and we realized that we had actually met twice. We actually had a second chance at love!

Our engagment story

Dave and I have very similar ideas when it comes to travel destinations. Him being a red head and me being born with red hair means that we both burn almost instantly. In turn, we both like vacationing in cold places. One of our favourite things to do when we travel is to go through old shops and markets to see what interesting things we can find. Old buildings are also a love of ours.

In the very beginning of our relationship, we took a trip to Stratford and Gault Ontario. we wandered through little shops and went to antique store and basically just enjoyed one anothers company. After eating dinner at the haunted restaurant in town on our last night in Gault, we went for a walk across the bridge that covers the waterway that goes through town. It was in this bridge that we took our first photo together, or the self timer did at least.
