REAL WEDDING | Vintage Afternoon Tea Wedding in California | France Photographers

Today’s wedding is the cutest! I always loved the idea of an afternoon tea troon wedding and I’m just gaga over the colors! It doesn’t just have to be for weddings, you can have it for other occasions or just as a nice lunch. I went for afternoon tea myself once when I was in the UK, it was Afternoon Tea Lichfield and it was amazing! Anyway, back to the wedding.. Check out more below.

Jodi & Robert

How did the two of you meet? Rob and Jodi met back in 2012 during the fateful San Diego “Big Bay Bust” on July 4th. Their first date consisted of exploring the Maritime Museum’s many ships and exhibits, followed by dinner and sitting down to watch the synchronized fireworks across San Diego Bay. While listening to the preshow radio countdown, Rob and Jodi and hundreds of others noticed a big explosion of light across all the fireworks platforms and figured they were testing the equipment. Little did they know it was to be the biggest 4th of July “bust” in San Diego history! Despite an anticlimactic first date, Jodi gave Rob and the bay a second chance with many more fun dates after that. Describe your engagement: Rob took Jodi to a scenic dinner at the Marine Room restaurant. Over dessert, Rob began to tell Jodi how much she meant to him and the next thing Jodi knew, Rob was down on one knee asking her to spend the rest of her life with him. Personal or handmade details: The bride collected vintage silver, china, and linens for the reception. She also made the tea-filled favors, name cards, and table signs. Describe your wedding flowers: We went for a vintage, afternoon tea- inspired theme. Flowers were a mix of beautiful peonies and other spring flowers highlighted by varieties of succulents. Memories and Stories about the Day: The groom’s best man was his bone marrow recipient! Robert donated bone marrow over 12 years ago and after a successful procedure and the required waiting time, met his bone marrow recipient a few years after the donation and they’ve been friends ever since. Your first dance song: It had to be you, Frank Sinatra The thing that we would have done differently is? The groom wanted more cake! We have a wonderful dessert bar and a small cutting cake, but the groom wanted more! We also left in the middle of the reception for sunset pictures and were gone too long. Some of our family and friends left while we were getting pictures and before the cake so we didn’t get a lot of pictures with some of them or get to say goodbye. Our favorite detail of the wedding was: Incorporating Jodi’s love of tea and the awesome band! Your advice for other plus size brides: Go to a place that specializes in plus-size dresses even if you have to travel. It makes all the difference in the world to work with someone who is familiar with your shape and has dresses to actually try on! Three adjectives that describe the day: Beautiful, happy, long What has surprised you most during the first few months of marriage? How everything and nothing changes at the same time.
