REAL WEDDING | RUSTIC CHIC SOUTHERN MARYLAND WEDDING | LOVE CHARM PHOTOGRAPHY

Kortney and Gregory’s Southern Maryland wedding had a “Rustic-Chic” theme. The best part is, they added a special Disney touch. Matching cowboy boots and shotgun shell boutonnieres completed their overall wedding look. The energy and action of the wedding was infectious—we’re excited just looking at these photos!

Kortney & Gregory

From the Photographer: We kicked off our 2016 wedding season with a charming Southern Maryland wedding. Kortney and Gregory’s wedding theme was “Rustic-Chic”, but added a twist with surprising small details of the magical world of Disney. The table settings looked especially cute! The couple surely added their own personal flare with their matching accessory of the wedding party: Cowboy boots! Also we love the unique shotgun shell boutonnieres for the groomsmen! The lively energy of Kortney’s and Greg’s families carried on for hours into the evening. The packed dance floor saw a lot of action and continued until the end of night bride and groom’s farewell. We are overjoyed that Kortney and Greg have found their happily ever after and we wish them a lifetime of happiness and joy! Congratulations to this beautiful couple!
How did the two of you meet?  We went to the same middle schools, but Kortney moved away for high school. Through mutual friends, we ran into each other at Ledo’s where Kortney was working. Describe your engagement:  After buying the perfect ring, Greg waited until he was able to get all of Kortney’s closest family around. In front of everyone, he handed her flowers and got down on one knee. Kortney, in total shock was unable to say anything other than “Are you serious?!”. After a couple of seconds to let the shock set in, she of course said “yes!” Personal or handmade details: Kortney’s bouquet of flowers had pictures of loved ones of Gregory and Kortney’s that had passed before them. Small Disney type flares including a gold mirror with “Tale as Old as Time” written on it and Beauty and the Beast Salt and Pepper shakers on the bridal table. Describe your wedding flowers: Bride’s bouquet included white gerber daisies, roses, baby’s breathe and greenery. Maid of Honor bouquet included pink gerber daises, baby’s breathe and greenery. Bridesmaids boquets included pink peruvian lilies, baby’s breathe and greenery. Center pieces were pink Peruvian lilies and greenery set in mason jars that were wrapped in burlap and various lace and bows. The Groom and best man’s boutonniere included a single white rose and some baby’s breathe, while the rest of the groomsmen had a white Peruvian lily. Flower girls dropped pink rose petals and the ring bearer’s boutonnieres was a small collection of white baby’s breathe. Memories and Stories about the Day: We decided to do the dollar dance, but with a twist. Our DJ announced for people to “dig in their pockets” to dance with either the bride or groom. Whoever raised the most money got to smash the cake in the other person’s face. To help keep the lines moving quickly he played 15-30 seconds of all different types of song. As each song switched, the next person would step in to dance. It kept everyone excited as some songs were slow, but others were fast. By the end of the dance Kortney had raised only $30 more than Gregory. They cut the cake together and each took a piece. Even though Kortney had one the competition, Gregory still managed to smash the cake into Kortney’s face as well. It was a great time for everyone, and a fun way to get everyone involved. Your first dance song: Mean to Me – Brett Eldredge
The thing that we would have done differently is?  Since the ceremony and the reception were in the same place all the alcohol was already at the location. Before the ceremony started, people began to drink. We would have moved the alcohol or covered it up until after the ceremony, that way there is no “early” intoxication. Our favorite detail of the wedding was: All the little touches that made it about us. We had pictures, light up initials, little details of things referencing to things that we both loved. IE Kortney had Disney references, while Gregory incorporated some purple for his racecar. It was simple, but very elegant and very much reflected the personalities of us as a couple. Your advice for other plus size brides: Try on every style of dress because you don’t know how it is going to look until you put it on. The dress I ended up picking, I would have never tried on. I was set to get a ballgown dress, but I ended up getting a more fitted, elegant, full lace dress and absolutely LOVED it. Another huge suggestion is to pay for the train pin up. We decided not to because the lace had a lot of detail and I didn’t want to mess it up, but me and everyone around me kept stepping on the train. Even when we were getting our bridal photo’s shot, everyone kept stepping on my dress and it was very frustrating.  Three adjectives that describe the day: Rustic, exciting, and amazing What has surprised you most during the first few months of marriage? How different it is to go from “dating” someone to actually having to live with them 24/7.
