Tell us about your wedding: Romantic Dark & Moody Woodsy Fall Wedding in Clarkston, Michigan
How did the two of you meet? Online
Describe your engagement: Our engagement was quite the story, my now husband wanted to take me on a walk in which once we hit our destination was going to lay out blankets and propose there but it was hot and mosquitos were bad so he took me home. No engagement…Until we were laying in bed later that night and he leaned over and said “so hey wanna marry me?” I still laugh about this to this day.
Personal or handmade details: Everything but the wedding food and dresses were handmade.
Describe your flowers: Fall flowers with heavy greenery.
Memories and Stories about the Day: Well the weather was beautiful all morning, and of course our ceremony was set to start at 4pm. Right at 4 a massive storm came through soaking all of my guests. Since there was lightning we had to postpone the ceremony by 45 minutes. All of my guests patiently waited under umbrellas the entire time and I knew right then how much love we were surrounded by. The storm stopped for just the right amount of time for us to get in and say our “I do’s” which was extra special because my husbands dad was our Officiant.
Your first dance song: Baby’s Arms by Kurt Vile
The thing that we would have done differently is? Nothing, everything turned out more perfect than I knew possible.
Your advice for other plus size brides: Don’t stress about not looking like the prettiest girl in the room because you ARE beautiful no matter what size. This day is to document the love between you and your partner so focus on that. It goes so fast so when you first sit down, take a second, breathe and just take in all the love that is surrounding you on this day because it’s over before you know it! My mom wrote us a little note that sat at our guest table telling us to take a second and let it all sink in and I’m so happy she did.
Three adjectives that describe the day: Romantic, Magical, Beautiful
What has surprised you most during the first few months of marriage? How much more in tune i feel with my partner. I LOVE being a wife.
