Real Wedding | Pastel Beach Wedding in Greece | Maxeen Kim Photography

Today’s real wedding features Kimberley and Gavin celebrating their love with a destination wedding in Greece attended by 85 of their nearest and dearest. With a pastel pink, white and grey color palette, they said ‘I do’ on a secluded beach followed by beach-side reception.

How did you meet?

We met at work, it took Gav a while to realize that I liked him; he heard me on the phone to one of my friends arranging a picnic and thought it was a boyfriend!

What is your proposal story?

Gav proposed in Florence in the palatial gardens. He carried the ring around in his pocket nervously all weekend waiting for the perfect moment. He was worried I would notice him wearing the same shorts all weekend as they were the only ones the ring box fit in securely! I didn’t notice, luckily for him, beautiful Florence was enough of a distraction!

Tell us about your attire choices.

I knew I wanted a lace, fitted wedding dress but it also had to be portable enough to take on a plane. It took trying on a few dresses before I found ‘the one’ and some vision to see past the sample size fit.

What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?

The most important things were that everyone enjoyed themselves and that we had a great wedding planner we could trust to help us make everything happen.   We splurged on a couple of things, a band who were brilliant and speedboats to the ceremony for myself and the bridesmaids. Both totally worth it!

Tell us a little a bit about your wedding

We wanted the day to feel relaxed and for everyone attending to have a good time. I had always wanted to get married barefoot on a beach so that was the dream we built it around. I’d been to several Greek Islands on holiday before so I knew the beaches and sea there were beautiful.  We found our wedding planner Claire, fell in love with Lefkada and our reception venue, arriving by boat and the rest is history.  I chose the colors of light grey and pastel pink as I think they complimented the beach setting .

What were your favorite parts of the day?

The whole day was better than we could have hoped for, we loved all the dancing and the atmosphere. The food was also delicious! Most of our guests have requested a 10 year reunion!

Please describe any DIY, handmade, or personal details.

My Grandad wrote a poem from the details of how we got together, then the tables were based on memorable dates for us. My bridesmaid Hannah drew us symbols for each date that were framed and went onto the tables.

Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?

It’s your wedding day so try not to get caught up in other people’s politics and do what you want. Oh and consider getting married abroad with a good wedding planner!

Any advice for your fellow plus size brides?

Enjoy every second as it goes so fast and wear a dress you are comfortable moving in, you’re in it for a while!
