Today we are sharing a wedding that really pulls at my heart strings, one because it’s just so sweet and simple. Sometimes I feel that those are the ones that are just enveloped in shear love. And two because the couple literally DIY’ed everything, from the flowers, to the donut wall to the arch. I just love it!
Vanessa & Daniel
Tell us about your wedding: Minimal and Unconventional
Wedding Colors: white and blush
How did the two of you meet? After high school through mutual friends
Describe your engagement: It was very laid back. We had a conversation and he proposed.
Personal or handmade details: We DIY’d everything. The flowers, donut wall, and arch.
Describe your flowers: It had white and blush accents. I used peonies, hydrangeas and roses for my bouquet. For the table we had garlands made.
Memories and Stories about the Day: It rained the day before when we first set up. The next day was clear skies. My mother passed away 8 years ago and Daniels mom passed away two months ago so it really felt like they were looking out for us
Your first dance song: “I never” by Rilo Kiley
The thing that we would have done differently is? Nothing! Everything was perfect!
Your advice for other plus size brides: Do what makes you happy. I didn’t want to do a whole dress fitting because I had negative memories with it and so I just ordered my dress online. It turned out okay. Make sure to talk to your vendor to make sure everything will fit right.
Three adjectives that describe the day: Minimal, fun, laidback
What has surprised you most during the first few months of marriage? Nothing! We lived together before we got married so it just feels more official now.
