I was sent this wedding through my Instagram page and realized that what she was sharing was so amazing. She reminded me of something that so many people think….that you have to have a big wedding. And this is so far from the truth. I know we all too often, only see the big amazing weddings which are great, but there are smaller more intimate weddings that are just as beautiful and amazing!! From the Bride: In my feelings bad tonight. I came across something saying there’s only five months until Christmas which jarred me into the realization that there’s only four months until my husband leaves for his #deployment.
I looked back through our wedding photos and just cried tonight. It was a beautiful if imperfect day. I was #sixmonthspregnant. We’d dithered about having a proper church wedding after the baby was born but couldn’t get the timing figured out. On a whim I asked him to just marry me and he said yes. We got married the following week, just us two (well, three I guess).
The entire wedding, from marriage license to cake to flowers to rings cost less than $300. We didn’t have a photographer and the court clerk kindly took photos for us during the ceremony. Our waitress took the other pics at our reception for two at a cafe downtown.
Our appointment with the judge was at 8:30 on a Monday morning. It was pouring down rain. We stopped for coffee and I wondered when I’d feel the wedding day magic.
After settling in at the cafe for our reception, I made a heartfelt speech. Hubs is a man of few words and he couldn’t think of anything more to say than “I love you.” I was so disappointed.
But he’d said all that needed to be said. He didn’t have more to say because what else was there? It hasn’t been a bed of roses. We’ve had our hard times. We will invariably have more. But, I love you, and that is the beginning and end of everything.
