When you get to combine two of your biggest loves – southern hospitality and dropdead gorgeousness, you know it’s going to be an amazing wedding. This wedding totally blew my mind. I just can’t help falling in love with everything about it. Hope you do too!!!
Tell us about your wedding: The style was regal, glam, and royal. The Style was reflected through the gold mirrored invites, mirrored and velvet menus, mirror seating chart, and custom gold mirrored place cards. We wanted every guests to feel appreciated by all the small details. We meet downtown, love Memphis, and Robert loves the Memphis Grizzlies, so having the Memphis Grizzlies’ mascot surprise Robert was special to him but also authentic Memphis.
Wedding Colors: Ivory, white, gold, and blush
How did the two of you meet? Robert and I met on social media; after chatting online we discovered that we lived in the same downtown apartment building. Robert’s apartment was located on the 5th floor and mine on the 6th floor. Once realizing we were literally living on top of each other, Robert invited me on a dinner date, I walked down to his apartment and our love story began.
Describe your engagement: Robert proposed on Valentine’s Day 2017 at one of our favorite restaurants. The proposal was far from smooth as Robert left the engagement ring in his car (his plan was to place the ring in my dessert), so when I got in the car after dinner, he asked me to get something out of the glove box and there was the ring.
Personal or handmade details: My mother passed away a few months before the wedding so her smiling photo was placed on the front row and I wore her favorite necklace on my garter belt.
Describe your flowers: We had fresh lush flower throughout the entire wedding (table runners, centerpieces, canopy ties, bouquets) with roses, hydrangeas, and orchids in shades of blush, dusty rose, and ivory.
Memories and Stories about the Day: Robert’s birthday was the day before the wedding and as his birthday surprise, I had the Memphis Grizzlies’ mascot bring out his groom/birthday cake; it add the right amount of rowdy to the regal wedding.
Your first dance song: Frank Valli- Can’t Take My Eyes Off You
Your advice for other plus size brides: Do not settle! You do not have to settle for what the boutique has in store. I ordered both my dresses after seeing them online. Many designers offer their signature dresses in plus sizes; find your dress and then select your dress…don’t find your size then select your dress.
Three adjectives that describe the day: Royal, Rowdy, Rememberable
What has surprised you most during the first few months of marriage? My desire to not immediately change my last name. As a little girl, you doddle “Mrs. Such and Such” on notebooks and you know one day your last name will change. I have started hyphenating, but I have been more resistant than I could have ever imagined.
