Sharon and Carl’s first trip as a couple was to Disneyland so it made sense to do a “Disney” themed wedding. Every detail had a touch of “Disney” and they made the majority of the decorations themselves. Truly a magical experience!

Tell Us About Your Wedding
We started out with a hidden Mickey/Disney theme which developed into just a Disney theme wedding. Our first trip together was to Disneyland and that is where we first told each other “I Love You”. We had beautiful weather for our February outdoors wedding and everything was perfect! We had a very tight budget and wanted to invite as many people as possible so we DIY’d as much as we could.

Describe your Engagement
We had talked about getting married for several months and went to Reno for the weekend where Carl proposed
Personal or Handmade Details
The bride and her sister made all of the flowers and decorations for the wedding. We incorporated Disney into the cake topper and flowers. We also used rides and attractions from Disneyland as our table assignments and used Fast Pass tickets to let people know their table assignments. All of these were made by the bride and her sister.
Describe your Flowers
Custom-dyed sola wood flowers dyed and arranged by the bride and her family.
Memories and Stories About the Day
The beautiful weather and how everything was perfect! After so much planning and work, it turned out beyond our expectations. Just being surrounded by family and friends to celebrate our marriage. Carl has a 7-year-old son who was able to be at the wedding and we did special vows for him. Watching his face as his dad spoke his vows was a highlight of the day. Also being married so close to Covid-19 shutting everything down makes us feel extra blessed that we didn’t have to postpone or change anything. Looking at the pictures all I see is our joy at getting married, big smiles, and big cheeks everywhere.
Your First Dance Song
Elton John – Something About the Way You Look Tonight
The Thing We Would Have Done Different Is?
more hair trials! I waited until the last minute to schedule and wasn’t completely happy with how it turned out.
Your Advice for Other Plus Size Brides
Try on whatever dress you want no matter if you think it will be flattering or not! Also if you want to make alterations or changes ask the bridal salon if you can order yardage of fabric so everything matches. I thought I wanted full illusion sleeves and when I tried them on I hated them all. Asked the consultant to try a dress I thought would not be flattering and cried about how much I loved it! Worked with a seamstress to add sleeves and it was fabulous!

What has Surprised you Most During the First Few Months of Marriage?
Carl had surgery two days after our wedding so we went from the ceremony into surgery mode into quarantine. This is not how I would have planned to spend our first few months or marriage but there is no one else I would rather be quarantined with!
