REAL WEDDING | Colorful and Vibrant California Wedding | Peterson Design & Photography

What a lively and colorful day it was for Harmony and Ernie! These two are so much fun and wanted their wedding to reflect their laid back personalities. The theme of the day centered around their splashes bright colors and their love for food and frivolity! Their venue, the Agoura Hills Recreation Center was a perfect blank slate with modern touches of wood, metal and stone and their fabulous planner Holly Gray was able to apply her magical colorful touches to create a wonderful and chill reception environment.

Harmony & Ernie

How did you meet? Friday January 13th was the start of this adventure , each acting 100% themselves that night, not looking to meet or impress anyone. It started off like any other BBQ at Ernie’s house and a sassy night out with friends for Harmony. There were jabs and zings, banter and drinks – from West Los Angeles to West Hollywood, neither missed a beat. Who pulled whom in for the kiss at the end of the night you should ask – that would be Miss Brown. Thanks to the world of social media, each knew more about each other with a simple “accept” and off to the races. What is your proposal story? On the evening of September 2nd, Ernie popped the question. After a story to get Harmony out of the house for dinner, Ernie claimed that his “low tire” warning light came on so we had to pull over at a perfectly placed park in Malibu. Little did Harmony know was that the sun was about to be Ernie’s best friend or worst enemy as he needed the sunset to be at a perfect spot for when he was to get down one knee. It all worked out as planned as they were standing on a Malibu cliff watching the sunset with the ocean waves crashing down below. As Ernie was balancing on one knee, he asked Harmony to let him take care of her and their peanut for the rest of their lives. After a few tears, she said yes and he slid the beautiful ring onto her finger. There was much to celebrate (and they had a babysitter) so a night on the town was just the ticket. He took her to dinner to the same spot where they had their first date in Santa Monica and later met up with friends to “ring” it all in. Tell us a little a bit about your wedding We wanted a laid back wedding that was fun to plan, fun to be a part of and fun for out guest. We have made Agoura Hills our home, moving in together here and starting our own family here – making the Agoura Hills Recreation Center the perfect location. For colors, we wanted bright highlights to a neutral wedding color scheme (navy & blush) Tell us about your attire choices. Ernie wears suits daily for work, so it was important to him to have a clean looking suit and something that all his guys would be comfortable in. For the gals, I credit my MOH in putting together a custom look that was affordable and cliche-ly enough, re-wearable pieces. The wedding dress was love at first site. I had a different dress I had planned to wear initially, but rather last minute had to make a change. The gals at Pebbles Bridal gave me a few options and the first one they showed me was the one. No large party with me, just my toddler to look at me like “why are you so sparkly mommy?”  Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip? We wanted everyone to leave feeling like they had left OUR wedding, not a stiff, cookie cutter one. We choose to skip a traditional cake for the guests and instead did a made to order donut booth. What were your favorite parts of the day?  bride: walking down the isle with our son to my soon to be husband and seeing all the people we love and cherish there to celebrate us. Tell us about your wedding flowers. bright, original and full of textures Tell us about your wedding cake. we had a small cake for the two of us from our favorite bakery where we get all of our special occasion cakes.  DIY, handmade, or personal details. another shout out to my maid of honor: making the placards and the holders; a sign that showed where the party was/vows were and our hostage #LangaricaLoveStory; photos of our parents on their wedding days and a dedication to them by our wedding cake and photos of both of our fathers where they would have sat (as they both passed in 2013). Did you include any family heirlooms or special traditions? the something blue that was a bow at the base of the corset lace-up on the back of my wedding dress was the drawstring on the scrubs my father wore when i was born. Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now? hire an amazing planner that will push you, drive you and support you like we did and trust that person to point you in the direction of quality vendors, like ours did. Trust your gut, listen to your partner about what is/isn’t important to them and don’t try to please anyone else.
