REAL WEDDING // Bohemian Canadian Wedding With Jewel Tones and Mountains // Kaylo Isomura

Today’s wedding is the cutest. I just love all the rich jewel tones and mismatched bridesmaid dresses. They literally had the most epic wedding EVER, with mountains with the perfect amount of fog, an exquisite aisle with a bohemian rug which may be just as memorable as those vintage turkish rugs, and an altar that looked like it was straight out of game of thrones. YES, I’m definitely upset I didn’t get an invite to this one. And her advice to other plus size brides is spot on!!!

Kerilee & Daniel

Tell us about your wedding: We were married in the mountains, with fog rolling in the background. Our bridal party wore jewel tones and wore or carried wild flowers inspired by the sea-to-sky terrain. Our aisle was a blue bohemian rug and the families and groom and bridal party walked out to Mushaboom by Feist. The bride and her mother walked out to By Your Sade by Sade.

Wedding Colors:  Emerald green, Sapphire blue, Wine/burgundy, Cobalt blue and champagne

How did the two of you meet? We met in university, Dan as a journalism major and Kerilee and advertising major in the same degree program in the prairies of Canada (Manitoba). They became good friends and when Dan moved out to BC to pursue a career as a sports editor Kerilee missed her dear friend. After a few visits home for the holidays and Kerilee catching up with Dan on her trips out West, the two friends realized they had fallen in love. Kerilee packed her life into a 50-pound suitcase and moved to Vancouver to be closer to Dan. For years as they dated the Sea-to-Sky highway from the city to the resort town of Whistler was their route to connect, until they eventually moved in together in their cozy mountain home.

Describe your engagement: We were vacationing on the island of Hawaii and staying in a small town called Pepeeko. One morning Dan called Kerilee out to the lanai, where they had enjoyed fresh cups of Kona coffee, all week long and he told her how strongly he knew he wanted to be with her every morning for the rest of their lives. He got down on one knee and proposed in front of the ocean.

Personal or handmade details: Charm on bride’s bouquet handmade by Dan’s mother for good luck

Describe your flowers: Wild and full, just like Kerilee. There were even flowers called chocolate cosmos that were a gorgeous rich colour and literally smelled liked chocolate. Everyone was smelling their bouquets and bouts all day.

Memories and Stories about the Day: Dan’s 90 year old grandma walked down the aisle full of energy and life. Kerilee and Dan wrote their own vows and retold jokes and stories from their years as friends in college. Kerilee and Dan had hired a cariacturist for the wedding so everyone made friends with people they didn’t know as the watched the artist at work. The dance floor was never empty the entire night. The bride and groom’s first dance was a fast, fun, motown number September by Earth, Wind and Fire. The more they thought about picking a first dance song a slow song didn’t make sense for them as they’re always upbeat, dancing up a storm with lots of energy.

Your first dance song: September by Earth, Wind and Fire

The thing that we would have done differently is? Nothing

Your advice for other plus size brides: Embrace your silhouette instead of fighting it. You’ll be more comfortable, feel more confident. If there’s any day for you to take up as much room as possible it’s your wedding day.

Three adjectives that describe the day: Warm, fun, joyful.

What has surprised you most during the first few months of marriage? How little has changed.
