Real Wedding | Beatles Garden Wedding | Emma Thurgood Photography

Hannah & Nick’s wedding was such a joy to be a part of. These two people are some of the kindest, most chill people you could meet. Nick loves to game and cook, Hannah loves art and poetry and they both love gardening and music.

For their wedding, they wanted to keep it on the smaller side, with mostly family and some close friends. They chose a venue like wedding ballrooms that allowed them to have a ballroom type feel with a garden ceremony all in one location and keeping things simple and fun were a high priority. Nick and Hannah chose a small wedding party of their closest friends, with Hannah’s sister as her maid of honor and adopted niece as the flower girl.

Because Hannah and Nick love to garden so much, both decorative flowers and vegetables for cooking, there was an abundance of flowers everywhere for their wedding. The wedding favors were a variety of succulents and the décor featured bright and vivid red roses and blue delphinium. Their love of music was also incorporated with the use of Beatles album cover signs to designate the different tables.

How did you meet? At a mall that we both worked at – bride at a kiosk, groom at a retail store.

What is your proposal story? Before his cousin’s wedding in Puerto Rico, the groom went skydiving with the cousin’s wedding party and said on video that he’ll propose to his girlfriend when he lands.

Tell us a little a bit about your wedding A little Beatles-themed – band played Beatles tunes, tables had album cover coasters. Jewel-toned colors.

Attire choices: Classic

What was most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip? Music is very important to us. Bride hired a band that she used to see all the time and the husband DJs with his friends that DJ’d the wedding.

What were your favorite parts of the day? Dancing with family and friends and listening to our friend and cantor tell jokes while officiating the ceremony.

Wedding flowers: Jewel-toned

Wedding cake: Marbled cake

What did you do for favors? Succulents. Didn’t want any throw-away favors.

Please describe any DIY, handmade, or personal details. Lots of people we knew were involved – photographer, DJs, band and officiant are friends, bride used to live near the florist and had her Bat Mitzvah party at the venue.

Did you include any family heirlooms or special traditions? Stomping on the glass, Jewish tradition.

Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Have fun throughout the process and surround yourself with love.

Any advice for your fellow plus size brides? Something will work out. The seamstress fixed things at the last minute.
