I graduated from Mary Baldwin College which is about 1 and a half from Richmond,Va and it has the most magnificent views, including mountains and valleys.  I just absolutely loved it.  So of course you know when I got this wedding from Natural Bliss Photography of a JMU grad set in the Luray Virginia, my heart skipped a beat.  This wedding is a knock your shoes off kinda of masterpiece, from the bride’s sparkly shoes to the groom’s fun tie, this wedding was one to remember!

Describe your wedding flowers:  All white high-petal count flowers for the bouquets and reception pieces. The reception flowers were arranged in mercury glass lanterns and tall mercury glass goblets with votive candles arranged around them. Bouquets included white hydrangeas, dianthus, Snowflake poms, and baby’s breath for a snowy look.

Your advice for other plus size brides: Don’t try to conform to the popular dress styles that it seems everyone else is wearing. Find a dress style that compliments your body or have one altered to fit your personality and shape.

Three adjectives that describe the day:  Charming, Romantic, Personal

How did the two of you meet? We met when we worked together at Artisans Grill in the summer of 2011.

Describe your engagement: Shocking. Even though we had known each other for over a year, we got engaged after dating for only month. Our families and friends were surprised to say the least but they soon learned to love the idea and the engagement lasted over a year so they had time to adjust.

The weather on your wedding was: Unseasonably warm for the end of December, Sunny, 45-50

Our favorite detail of the wedding was: When the Pastor pronounced us as husband and wife, before the first kiss, we did our special handshake to make the moment more personal for us. We also included a quote from the film Annie Hall.

The most unique element of the day:  Star Wars Song “Throne Room” playing for the Ceremony Recessional.

Your first dance song:  “Here, There, and Everywhere” – The Beatles

What has surprised you most during the first few months of marriage?  How easily the transition from being engaged to married was. We feel like we have been together forever and couldn’t be more happy!

Describe your wedding cake and any other desserts:  4-tiers alternating white cake with peach filling and lemon cake with lemon filling. The cake was covered in crystal sugar making it look like snow or ice and was accented with a pearlized fondant bow.

Describe your DIY décor, if any:  We made the signs for the seating at the ceremony, the bar, the quilt/guest book table and the Sparkler exit. Our alter which was made up of two book cases and a table was also decorated with some of our favorite books and movies, along with flowers and candles. We also cut pieces of fabric up for our guest book. Instead of a traditional book, we are making a quilt out of the fabric the guests sign.

Describe your menu and your favorite part: Instead of a full dinner we had a cocktail and Hors d’ouevrs reception with heavy appetizers. We really enjoyed the stuffed mushrooms and barbecue chicken skewers.

Describe any unique aspects of the beverages you served:  We served beer, wine and two signature cocktails: Brides- “The Redhead” (Sprite, Grenadine, and Pineapple Rum), Groom- “Clockwork Orange” (Bourbon, Ginger Ale, and Oranges)

The thing that we would have done differently is?  Taken more food home! It was so good and we didn’t get to eat very much.

If we could have spent our wedding dollars differently, we would have:  Booked more time with the photographer. We felt too rushed.
