{Real Plus Size Wedding} Vintage Outdoor Wedding in Oklahoma | Heather Bond Photography

I’m not much of an outdoors person but this wedding could definitely make me change my mind.  I loved the outdoor ceremony set up and I totally dug the BBQ reception theme. Definitely something I could get down with and especially with the camera talent of their photographer, Heather Bond Photography!!  I also feel in love with the color combination of this couple.  Who would have thought that coral, gray and teal would look so good together but they sure do.

Your advice for other plus size brides: DO NOT Let ANYONE tell YOU what dress to wear! I REPEAT DO NOT! Wear what you envisioned and you WILL feel Amazing. Do not let anyone else’s emotions or opinions dictate your choices.

Three adjectives that describe the day:  joyful, beautiful and memorable

The weather on your wedding was: The weather was beautiful! It had rained a few days before, so we were real lucky to get clear sky’s.

Describe your wedding flowers: The flowers throughout were actually silk flowers I had purchased from Michael’s. Hydrangeas, roses, and other large petal flowers. My bridal bouquet was real flowers and full of pink & white garden rose with baby’s breath.

How did the two of you meet? We actually met at a bowling alley here in town. We knew two people who worked together and we happened to be there during a night out their work group had.

Describe your engagement: Proposal was personal and at home, very sweet and sincere and our time engaged was great! Really no different than any of our other days, lol.

Your first dance song: JB & The Moonshine Band – Only Drug

The thing that we would have done differently is? Hired a full blown wedding planner not just “day of help”. A full planner can take a lot of the stress off the process, especially when the bride and groom are taking care of everything on their own. Something will go wrong and a wedding planner is the BEST person to take care of that for you, they spend time to get to know you and what your expectations are. Good wedding planners don’t run cheap, so be sure you get someone who has lots of experience and a good reputation.

Describe your wedding cake: 3 tier red velvet cake with cream cheese filling. The icing is fondant with round candy sprinkles pressed in and white fondant bows. The cake topper was custom made: We got to pick out the outfits, hair do’s, colors etc… they even added our two cats, simply amazing!

Describe your DIY décor, if any: I made, painted and purchased just about everything for my wedding. I painted the glass vases the centerpieces were in. Made chalkboard signs and the seating chart with picture frames. The card holder was an old typewriter case that my grandma had, I relined it with teal fabric and made a card sign to hang on it. We had a popcorn bar with bags I designed and created labels for.

Describe your menu and your favorite part: traditional southern BBQ, we had chick and pork, baked beans, potato salad. We thought, Who doesn’t love a good BBQ?

Describe any unique aspects of the beverages you served: We stuck with simple. Beer, Wine, Tea & Lemonade

If we could have spend our wedding dollars differently, we would have: Probably would have rented a lot more items. We assumed We could just sell the stuff afterward and it wouldn’t be a problem, but it’s a lot more hassle than its worth. Just rent what you can and let them handle it.

Our favorite detail of the wedding was: Our open photo booth had to have been the best. We were able to take large group photos and it was so much fun!

The most unique element of the day: We had a pop corn bar and Giant Lawn Jenga
