Casablanca Bridal Rewrites the Rules of Confidence and Inclusivity for Every Bride

There are bridal events. And then there are bridal moments. What Casablanca Bridal created at their Confidence Campaign Workshop was a moment. The kind that settles into your body and stays with you long after the lights go down.

When I arrived at Confidence Cove in Newport Beach, I expected a beautiful experience. I did not expect to feel like I was walking into a love letter written to every bride who has ever wondered whether the bridal industry truly saw her.

It felt warm. It felt intentional. It felt like someone finally said, let us create something where every bride knows she belongs.

Inside, I could hear laughter coming from one room and soft coaching from another. Brides of every size were stepping into Casablanca gowns, being styled with care, and then meeting the incomparable David Suh, who was helping them find confidence in real time.

Watching curvy brides take their place in front of the camera was powerful. They looked nervous for a split second. Then David would say, “Take a breath. How do you want to feel right now.” And everything about them softened and brightened at the same time.

You could literally watch confidence appear.

And that was the moment I knew: this event wasn’t just about showcasing gowns. It was about showcasing the women who wear them. And one of those amazing women was Chiara Rose. Her and I were partners together for taking images and she was the best. Make sure and follow her during her wedding planning process.

Confidence at Casablanca Is Not Marketing Language. It Is a Legacy.

As I walked through the space, I talked with Casablanca’s Creative Director, Crystal Lu, who carries the brand’s legacy forward with the kind of grounded grace that only comes from growing up inside a family-owned bridal house.

Her parents, Kevin and Gloria, built Casablanca on craftsmanship and heart. Crystal is expanding that legacy with something more. Confidence.

She spoke to me about why every gown in every collection is available in Curvy and Petite sizing from day one.

She said something that stayed with me.
“Confidence should never come with conditions. So many brides have been asked to imagine what a gown might look like if it fit. We refuse to make anyone imagine their beauty. Every gown is created for both Curvy and Petite sizing so no bride feels like an afterthought in her own story.”

As a plus-size bride myself once upon a time, I felt that.
It is one thing to offer extended sizes. It is another thing to design with those bodies in mind from the very beginning.

Crystal told me that Casablanca also offers custom measurements for most gowns, usually with little or no additional cost. She explained that it is not just about access but assurance.
“Brides deserve to see themselves in our gowns. Not as exceptions. As muses.”

And then she shared something that felt like she was speaking directly to every curvy and every culturally diverse bride reading this.
“Inclusivity goes far beyond size. Every gown can be made in Modest or Temple Ready versions. A bride should never have to choose between her beliefs and her beauty. She should be able to honor both.”

This is what inclusivity looks like when it is real. It matches your values. It respects your lifestyle. It reflects your identity.

Before leaving Crystal, she shared something they are actively working on behind the scenes.
“Just like makeup brands have expanded their nude shades, bridal needs to do the same. Nude is not one color. We are exploring partnerships to expand nude cup and lining options because every bride deserves to see her shade reflected in the details.”

I smiled because I have spent years explaining that my nude is not beige. And finally, someone gets it.

Representation That Centers the Bride, Not the Optics

Next, I found myself standing near a group of creators as Ashley Powell, the campaign architect behind the Confidence Campaign, walked over.

Ashley is someone who understands representation in her bones. She told me a story from her teenage years about working at Curves, the women’s fitness franchise, where she helped women take measurements they often dreaded.

She said something that made me stop in my tracks.
“That is where I learned that influence is not always loud. Sometimes it is the soft way you witness someone trying.”

That was the seed that eventually grew into her career. Launching a curve division at a bi coastal agency. Championing size inclusive bridal influencers before it was cool. Advocating for diverse creators in rooms where decisions were being made.

She told me that designing this campaign meant ensuring that plus-size brides and creators were not just included but centered.
“We created posing workshops with David that spoke to confidence for every body. We removed the barriers that usually keep people out. Access should never depend on a flight to Europe or New York. Access should be possible for the community you want to reach.”

Ashley also shared something I wish every brand could hear.
“Inclusivity has too often become a checklist. One plus size sample. One diverse model. One creator of color. That is not inclusivity. That is optics. Inclusivity is infrastructure. It is built into who you style. How you style them. Who you invite. And who gets to participate.”

And she is right.

At Casablanca’s event, micro creators, real brides, and women from different communities stood shoulder to shoulder. Not based on follower count. Based on alignment and voice.

That is representation done right.

Posing That Starts With Feeling Good, Not Performing Good

Then there was David Suh, whose entire career revolves around helping women see themselves with new eyes.

I watched him work with brides in real time. He did not start with instructions. He started with questions.
“How do you want to feel. What do you want to show off today. What vibe do you want to give.”

When I asked him about the confidence shifts he saw in plus-size brides during the workshop, he shared something that made everything click.
“The biggest shift was in how they moved. When your body has been labeled or stereotyped, you start believing there are rules about how you can move. My workshops start with feeling good first. When you feel good, looking good happens naturally.”

He also told me why he never walks into a session assuming he knows how a plus size woman should pose.
“If I walked in with ten poses in my pocket ready to assign, that would mean I was projecting my assumptions onto her. Instead, I go in with curiosity. Making someone feel high fashion comes from collaboration. It starts with saying your self expression matters and I am here to support it.”

Watching the transformation happen through his process was breathtaking. Brides did not look posed. They looked present. They looked powerful. They looked like versions of themselves the world had not celebrated enough.

Confidence Is the New Bridal Standard

When I left Confidence Cove, I did not leave inspired by the gowns, although they were exquisite. I left inspired by something deeper.

Casablanca Bridal is not designing dresses for brides to squeeze into. They are designing gowns that honor the bride who already exists.

They are designing confidence.
They are designing representation.
They are designing inclusivity with integrity.

This is what happens when a brand decides that every bride deserves to be seen without shrinking, heard without apologizing, and celebrated without compromise.

Confidence is not a trend. Confidence is a right.

And at Casablanca Bridal, confidence belongs to every bride, every body, every story.
