Laura and Dustin’s love story began in the most unexpected place: their workplace. What started as a professional acquaintance quickly blossomed into a deep, spiritual connection fueled by their shared love of faith. Both Laura and Dustin have always placed a strong emphasis on their beliefs, and this mutual dedication has only strengthened their bond. Their relationship is a testament to the power of faith in building a strong, unbreakable foundation. Their wedding, adorned in delicate shades of pink and white, beautifully reflects the purity and passion of their love.
How did you meet?
At work. My friend and I decided to go introduce ourselves to the new guy on one of our breaks. Didn’t think anything of it at the time!
What is your proposal story?
For about 4 years I had heard God tell me that Dustin was supposed to be my husband. I waited on him to receive the same revelation. He was also asking God for the same revelation. One night at church we had a minister visiting. He knew nothing about us, nothing about our story, and nothing about what we we were praying for. In front of everybody he had us stand up and he gave Dustin the confirmation we had been asking for (unbeknownst to the other). He proposed to me in front of an over 200+ audience and livestream. A few months later he decided to do a more private proposal. He led me on a scavenger hunt where we visited the place where we first met, recreated our first date, where we had our first kiss, etc. The last stop was the apartment where we would soon be living. He filled the entire place with flowers, candles, and pictures of us. This was the second proposal and where he gave me my ring. Each one was special in its own way!
Tell us a little a bit about your wedding.
The vision for my wedding has pretty much remained the same since I was a little girl. I wanted something romantic, charming, and elegant with a hint of glam.
Tell us about your attire choices.
My gown was the closest thing I could find to something romantic and off the shoulder. I wanted to make sure it wasn’t too heavy and I wanted to make sure it would define my waist as best as possible. Since our accent color was pink, my husband and I decided a light gray was soft enough to pair well with the pink as well as still be seen as soft and romantic.
What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?
The most important thing to us was spending as much time together as possible. The funnest part was taking our engagement photos.
What were your favorite parts of the day?
One of the best parts was getting to see each other at the altar for the first time. We hadn’t communicated all day so it was nice to finally be able to be with each other. Having all of our friends and family cheer us on as we walked in and have a Soul Train moment were things that still puts a smile on our faces. I could probably talk about every single moment being a favorite of one or the other but one of the most special moments was when we did our final private dance. To have such a beautiful song playing with the lights down low and having nobody around for the first time that day was indescribable.
Any advice for your fellow plus size brides?
Try on as many different styles as possible! Typically you hear the same fashion advice for plus size ladies but trying on some unexpected styles was quite surprising to me. There were some styles in there I never thought I could pull off until I tried them on. Don’t forget to take a good team with you to hype you up! The dress + a good hype team = you feeling yourself!
