Real Wedding Wednesday: Pennsylvania Wedding by Flick Foto

I was so thrilled to get an email from Sarah at Flick Foto because the minute I saw this wedding and and read their story I was memorized.

It is not often that you can honestly say that you have met your soul mate but Todd and Laura can honestly say this.  Take a glimpse into their wonderful and joyous wedding day.

Todd and Laura met back in the summer of 2006 through a happy hour conducted by mutual friends at Bahama Breeze in King of Prussia (PA) hit it off pretty quickly, but were just friends for about two more years.  In early 2008, Todd decided to pursue Laura a little more directly, inviting her to a friend’s Super Bowl party, followed by dinner at the Mexican Post in Delaware, and a friend’s wedding in April of 2008.  They’ve been inseparable ever since.

Todd is a turn-around specialist for small companies struggling with competition from imports from China and other foreign competitors.  Laura is a marketing consultant, specializing in digital marketing.  They are hoping to start their own business in a few years – and Laura is looking to earn her PhD in behavioral finance starting in 2014.

From my perspective (Laura), I knew VERY quickly that Todd was the right guy for me.  My opinion has only grown over the course of our relationship, and marrying Todd is still the best decision I’ve ever made.  The week before our first real date, his friend’s wedding, my father was diagnosed with Stage 4 Terminal Lung Cancer.  I initially cancelled this date, so that I could stay home with my dad.  I think my dad knew that Todd was already important to me, even before I did, and he told me to “Call that boy back, and tell him you’re going.”  So I did.  The moment I knew that Todd was the “one” was about a week / month later – when I told him I needed to go to the hospital to see my dad on a night we wanted to go out on a date, and he suggested, “Why don’t I go with you and then we can go out?”  I was really touched and surprised because I feel so uncomfortable seeing my own family in the hospital, let alone someone I’ve never even met, which didn’t seem to bother him.

I (Todd) also knew very quickly.  I was pretty sure after our first date, but it was reinforced after we attended our friend’s wedding in April.  Then I knew that Laura was my soul mate.

The wedding ceremony was held at my parent’s church, where my father is buried in the mausoleum.  This was one of the biggest considerations I had regarding where to hold the wedding, because I still wanted him to be “there” seeing our wedding.  The reception site was selected because the room was beautiful, close to our home at the time we selected it, and had a great all-inclusive reception pricing, making the day run much more smoothly than if everything had been done piecemeal.  The colors of our day were primarily ivory and royal/cerulean blue, with a scattering of lilac and deep purple in different aspects of the flowers.  We chose the colors because they reminded us of a perfect cloudless summer day, with the deep beautiful color of the sky and the white puffy clouds.  It didn’t hurt that blue is also our favorite color.

I can’t wait to share the reception pictures tomorrow and the most memorable part of their wedding day.
