Lisa and David’s wedding is such a sweet one! We love that we can feature sexy, confident brides like Lisa. The beautiful couple married in Huntington Beach, CA and had an 85 guest wedding. How cute is Lisa’s vintage-like, tea length dress? It’s an Oleg Cassini for David’s Bridal for those wondering. We wish you many happy years ahead, you two lovebirds!

How did the two of you meet? Online dating website, Geek to Geek Describe your engagement: We knew a short time after we met that we wanted to be married, but the timing wasn’t right for either of us. We became engaged 3 years after we met, and married another year later. Personal or handmade items: Our ring pillow was from my parent’s wedding in 1949, and the pearls that I made and wore included some beads from a necklace my mother had. I made pearl bracelets for all of the bridesmaids, the mother of the groom, and my cousin Rose Mary who was my Mother of the Bride. We designed and printed our own programs and table numbers, and the candles for all of the tables were made by a friend,Teresa Orr. Describe your Flowers: We purchased all of our flowers from the Los Angeles flower mart and did all of the centerpieces and bouquets ourselves with the help of our tireless bridesmaids, and good friends Carol Jennings (Bridal bouquet) and Elizabeth Watt (all of the mens’ boutonnieres). I love blue hydrangeas, so I really wanted them in our centerpieces, along with roses, mums, and daisies. Memories and Stories about the Day: My mother passed away when I was little, so my cousin flew in from out of state to be my Mother of the Bride, and her husband was our officient. We had guests literally fly from all over the country to come to the wedding, and Dave’s sister flew half way around d the world! That was so wonderful for us. Apart from the actual ceremony, for me, dancing with my dad was something I will never forget. For Dave, seeing his parents and sister at our special day was priceless. Your first dance song: Frank Sinatra “Fly me to the Moon” The thing that we would have done differently is? We really took a serious loss on food. The pricing was good, but we over estimated both the number of guests and the amount of food it would take to feed them. Also, don’t wait to the last minute for ANYTHING (like writing your vows, Dave)! If we could have spent our wedding dollars differently, we would have: hired people to set up before the wedding. Dave and the groomsmen worked so hard with just a few other volunteers, it would have been nice to have someone else do that so they could relax. Your advice for other plus size brides: Don’t settle for a dress that you don’t love. If you have a vision of something fun and funky, don’t get prim and proper just because it’s available. Be true to your personality and keep looking, your dress is out there! What has surprised you most during the first few months of marriage? This first year has been quite a challenge for us in many ways. Be sure when you say “for better or for worse” you are prepared for whatever challenges life can throw at you. You can get through anything with the help of your partner
