REAL WEDDING | Rustic Barn Afternoon Wedding in Texas | ML Photo & Film Photography

Today’s wedding is the all about being in your element. Kaycee and Michael wanted to fuse their love for all things rustic and vintage, so they decided on a rustic barn for their rustic barn wedding with a vintage flair. It came out amazing including the navy bridesmaid gowns and grey suits for the groomsmen.  Love it! Check out more below.

Tell us about your wedding: A simple yet refined, rustic, vintage chic party in a big industrial yet rustic style barn in the country. It was a melding of both of our styles and allowed to be in a space that felt like it was in the middle of nowhere yet was close to the city.

Wedding Colors: pink, charcoal, and navy

How did the two of you meet? Online via OkCupid.

Describe your engagement: We were engaged on Christmas Eve 2015, just over four years after we had first started dating. After the first choice of dates we wanted weren’t available we decided to have a long engagement so we could get married in October, the same month we had officially become a couple.

Personal or handmade details: I created all of the invitation inserts to go along with the invitations we purchased from Minted. I also designed and printed all of the signage for the day of including the table numbers, drink list, bubble send off and guest board. All of the “mercury” glass tea lights were a DIY I found on Pinterest as well as the holders for the table numbers which were bought at Ikea and spray painted. My aunts and grandmother made all of the desserts to accompany the wedding cake.

Describe your flowers: Round, but slightly whimsical bouquet of blush and white dahlias, garden roses, cafe au lait dahlias, white panda anemones, and blush astilbe tied with a charcoal ribbon wrap. Babies breath and succulents added in to complete the look.

Memories and Stories about the Day: Nephews having epic meltdowns when it was time to get dressed for the wedding. The glitter banner I purchased specifically from Etsy to hang behind the cake ended up not getting used because it was silver glitter on a silver back so it wasn’t visible. Also, somehow we ended up with the entire bottom layer of cake after the wedding which allowed all of our coworkers to enjoy in the deliciousness! Your first dance song: The National – “Dark Side of the Gym” The thing that we would have done differently is? As much as I loved our day I would have gone about it a little differently. Even with trying to be completely present the day flashes by in the blink of an eye. Also, we loved most of our vendors, but we would have gone with another one for one of the most important pieces if we could have a do-over.

Your advice for other plus size brides: Get out there and enjoy yourself! This day is about you and your husband becoming one and being surrounded by family and friends who love you and what to celebrate this momentous occasion. Sure, everything may not go exactly as planned or envisioned, but at the end of the day all that matters is that you were able to marry your best friend.

Three adjectives that describe the day: loving. happy. exciting.

What has surprised you most during the first few months of marriage? Even though we signed a piece of paper making us contractually tied to each other not much has changed. We had already been together for six years by the time we finally had the wedding. Also, actually calling Michael my husband to other people has been a little difficult to get used to. I always want to say boyfriend still, but then have to correct myself he is my husband.
