Happy Tuesday! We featured this wedding a while back in our Spring Issue 2013 and today I was feeling a bit glam so I thought let’s share a super fabulous wedding from our friends over at Dejanae Events in Chicago. Check out the fabulous work from Concept One Photography!
Hareder & Michael
Our favorite detail of the wedding was: The entrance of both the bride and the groom. Michael drove to the ceremony in a Porsche w/ his 2 Best Men and exited the car and took his place at the ceremony. I can in like a princess with a horse and carriage.
The most unique element of the day: Nature, the backdrop with the weather and the landscaping was perfect and unlike anything that can be reproduced.
How did the two of you meet? Freshman year in College he walked into my dorm room
Describe your engagement: Surprised me at Devon’s Steakhouse, downtown Chicago, all of my closest family and friends were outside with candles lit, with our names engraved, my 100 year old grandmother at the forefront, I turned & he was on one knee. We dined from a custom menu of my most frequently ordered items. It was beautiful.
The weather on your wedding was: 85 degrees with a loving breeze
Your advice for other plus size brides: Do NOT let the bridal shops limit you, you can try on anything you want to, make the bridal assistance work and get you in those samples until you find the dress YOU love.
Three adjectives that describe the day: Amazing, enchanting, timeless
Describe your wedding flowers: My favorite flower is the Gladiolas which were found in the reception centerpieces, there were shades of pink and ivory roses (different variations) in my bouquet w/ bling and marabou feathers.
Describe your wedding cake and any other desserts: 5 tier gold shimmer fondant with a Pink draping bow, inclusive of chocolate with rum cream filling, vanilla with strawberries and red velvet, adorned by a pink crystal HMM monogram by Couture Crystals.
Describe your menu and your favorite part: My menu was inclusive of a chicken potpie that was clearly the highlight according to my guest. It was delicious, along side herb baked chicken, roasted potatoes and mixed vegetables.
Describe any unique aspects of the beverages you served: The timing was unique the first toast was as we said I Do at 5p.m. and continued to flow until midnight. Everyone’s favorite spirit was on the bar list.
Your first dance song: “Closer I Get to You” Luther Vandross and Beyonce’
The thing that we would have done differently is? I would have ensured that my videographer captured the cocktail reception and included short words of encouragement from my guest. This is an aspect we didn’t think we wanted, we were focused on the video remaining on us, and as we look back we wished we had a better scope of the guest in the video.
What has surprised you most during the first few months of marriage? That we are truly each others best friend and have each others best interest at heart above all others.
