Today’s retro wedding is so amazing I can’t contain my excitement while sharing it with you. It’s gorgeous from start to finish. I’m absolutely in love with the blush wedding gown by Allure Bridals worn and we can’t leave that dapper groom out either because he was spotting some pretty rad Vans! And I can’t not mention the epicness of the bridal gowns by David’s Bridal.
Reflect on the day and what parts were most special: The day for us was pretty magical. Neither Ryan or I had jitters going into the ceremony. We both choose not to see each other before the wedding and I believe that made the ceremony more special. When I began walking down the aisle with my dad he was making me laugh but the sight of Ryan crying as I was walking towards him melted my heart. We both worked on the wedding script but hearing it that day made it more special to us. Being surrounded by our closest friends and family made it such a memorable evening for us. The father daughter dance is a moment I will never forget; my dad hardly ever shows his emotions but seeing him cry made it memorable for all those who were there. Planning the entire wedding was so much fun, Ryan was so involved and we both truly enjoyed crafting away on our weekends. Since we did not have a coordinator we were pretty worried of our vision not coming alive the day of, but with the help of some of my family members the vision did come alive and it was way better than either of us had imagined.
Give details of what DIY projects you did, and how they played a part in your day: Wedding programs, escort cards, painted jars for centerpieces, menus and letter marquee. We wanted to tell our guests a story from the moment they received the invitation. The floral designs on our paper goods and bright colors on the centerpieces made our whimsical tea party inspired wedding come to live.
Describe the details of any funny stories or interesting things that you did: We are both nerds. When it came time to plan the wedding we knew perfectly well that we wanted to incorporate our love for Alice in Wonderland and Star Wars into it. The floral designs on paper goods, with the tea cups hanging from the arch to the custom White Rabbit made for us by Flat Bonnie and the bright colors of the jars in the beautiful garden setting made the tea party I had envisioned come true. On the cake topper we used a phrase from the Star Wars movie “I love you, I know” plus Ryan was wearing his Star Wars vans shoes all through out the evening. We truly wanted everything we worked on to be whimsical and fun.
