I am absolutely in love with this, Charlene Morton Photography. She does a fabulous job of capturing all the right moments. And this wedding is sure to please with it’s english touch, gorgeous backdrop and amazing bride and groom. Not to mention the purple bridesmaid dresses and a little sparkle to go with it!
The day started in the Rose cottage suit at St Pierre Hotel and Country Club. Where four adult bridesmaids, mum and Amy were getting ready. It was a very relaxed atmosphere with Amy’s mum doing hair and the bridesmaids helping out with makeup. Since Amy booked me as her wedding photographer we have met up for pre-wedding photos and sent ideas back and forth using pintrest, which is a great source of inspiration and gathering ideas.
There was a lovely element of DIY with the personalized heart name tags for the dresses and mini champagne bottles (including one for me). The adult bridesmaids had silver glittery Dorthy shoes with matching clutch bags, while the little bridesmaids had white dresses with hot pink net sashes. Even the page boy had a cute fabric and button lapel to match, and mother of the bride an amazing oversize hot pink flower headpiece.
Not too long after I arrived so did the amazing flowers from Deacons florist in Chepstow. I was very excited to be working with them as I have a great relationship with them anyway and wanted to get some fabulous floral photographs for them to use too. They didn’t disappoint the flowers were incredible, from tiger lilies to sweet peas they had it all but still maintained a delicate balance while gently incorporated the hot pink colour theme.
The vintage cars arrived to collect the bridal party so i quickly snapped a few photographs the bridesmaids on the lawn. I wanted to capture some natural expressions and have a bit of fun too like I do with my studio photography. Everything was running smoothly but we were just missing one little flower girl who made her grand entrance at the church riding upon a purple trike and waving like she was royalty.
St Stephens church in Caerwent has everything you would hope for in a rural country setting, beautiful stonework, stain glass windows but amazingly lots of natural light. The ceremony was led by a lady vicar to my delight, who was humorous and friendly which suited the couples personality. The biggest eruption of laughter came when she dropped the rings !! but this didn’t stop the ceremony being truly emotional and everyone in the church shed a little tear at one point.
A British wedding tradition of a rope was used, which entails the groomsmen having to give money to the children before they are allowed to leave the church. In this case the rope was beautifully decorated which gave for some lovely photos as the children were scrabbling about for the coins. After the money was all collected and guests had congratulated the gorgeous couple we set off back to St Pierre for the reception.
As it was a lovely sunny day we had plenty of time to have fun outside, we did a heart shaped for the group shot and really went to town on the bridal party! we had conga lines, Beyonce poses ( from the boys) to ghetto style poses with attitude from from girls.
I photograph weddings at St Pierre, Chepstow quite regularly as it is so local for me but I haven’t seen the reception room looking so good with an incredible light canopy as a backdrop for the head table. Attention to detail was seen everywhere from the crystal encrusted card box to the card craft menus.
Speeches were brilliant, again the stunning back light netting acted as a stage for Dad and the best men. There was lots of laughter especially as a few member of Rusty Shackel sung a personalized song for the couple. The time flew by as guests were entertained by impromptu guitar and singing.
I decided this would be the perfect opportunity to take the bride and groom off for some more intimate photographs. One thing I love about having a wedding at a golf course is the use of golf buggies which we utilized by traveling to various locations and at one point almost getting stuck by a golf ball ! Amy had loved the quirky style photography so waiting until later in the evening made the lighting perfect. Evening light gives a more vintage look with soft dreamy sun rays that are very flattering. I had a fantastic time and am so happy to have re-found a friend and made quite a few new ones. Charlie x {the photographer}
