Plus Size Bride Tip #1: Undergarments

plus size bride

This tip is so important to plus size brides.  Undergarments are meant to help you look and feel better.  They are responsible for that smooth, tucked in look that a wedding gown should have and everything that we, as plus size brides, struggle with.  So if you are feeling that your dress isn’t fitting you quite right, invest in taking a trip to a local lingerie, department store or a plus size bridal salon and checking out some of their plus size undergarments.

Trust me it will me you feel and look so much better when everything underneath your dress is just as put together as everything on the outside of your dress.

Plus Size Bride Tips is a new series we will be running on Wedding Tip Thursday.

  1. I need help! I am getting married in October, my dress has been made and I’ve tried it on but won’t be getting it altered until August. My dress is the wtoo marnie dress http://watters.com/Product/WtooBrides/Featured:WtooCurve/14715/. I love it but as you can see it has a very deep plunge and a very open back. I am a 42DD and at a total loss about what to do about undergarments. I would love to hear your suggestions.

    Thank you!

    1. First off, I love this dress!! We used it in a styled shoot for our spring issue. My advice would be to either do double sided tape to keep the girls in place or even something I’ve used before called “Boob Glue” Now if you are thinking you want to go with an actual undergarment I would check intoS because they have some pieces that are pretty low cut. They have one that is a strapless option, then there is one that has the bust is cut out so then you could use the double sided tape or boob glue to keep the girls in place but still have the coverage for the other parts of your body. A last resort could be to get a seamstress to add in cups for you to the bust part of the dress. Hope those have helped! And don’t forget to share pictures with us. We love seeing our pretty pear brides on their big day. Good Luck!
