PLANNING | Here Comes The Bride And Groom: The Art Of Making An Entrance

Wedding days are all about entrances. There’s the choice of transport for the wedding party and guests, the entrance of the bride at the ceremony, the entrance of the newly married couple at the reception, and the entrance of the guests to the reception. To add a little impact to your entrances follow these creative tips.

  1. Transport

All brides want their wedding to be unique. For many, it’s something they’ve been planning for years, possibly even since childhood. It’s a culmination of daydreams and fantasies, followed by hours of research and preparations.

In terms of making an entrance, the transport is where it starts. Whether you opt for something traditional or a little bit different, the aim is for the wedding party and couple to arrive in style. Companies like Limo Hire Now will take the stress out of this for you. Choose from a fleet of pristine vehicles and decide on the style to suit your big day. Some couples prefer more traditional limos, while others go for contemporary hummers.

  1. The Church/Ceremony

It’s traditional for the groom and guests to arrive first and then to await the entrance of the bride. But there are no hard and fast rules. Some couples prefer to arrive together. And to really mix it up, scrap the traditional music and opt for something a little upbeat. Remember the spoof Royal wedding video that did the rounds before the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were married? Have your groomsmen and bridesmaids go first and dance down the aisle, followed by the couple. It’s something a little unexpected and will surprise and delight your guests.

  1. Reception Flash Mob

After the wedding ceremony, the guests make their way to the reception and await the arrival of the newly married couple. Instead of the usual announcement and entrance, many couples have set up a flash mob. As the bride and groom are announced, the music starts and the flash mob begins. This is a great ice breaker and talking point.

  1. Rose Petals/Balloons/Confetti

If you’ve ever wanted to make a grand entrance with fireworks, rose petals, balloon arches, etc. now’s your chance. Don’t be shy. Make your first appearance as a married couple a grand affair. Announce it with a fanfare and enjoy every minute of it. Go big or go home, right?

  1. Choreographed First Dance

Weddings are about tradition but not rules. And the first dance of the bride and groom doesn’t have to be a ballad or slow dance. Many couples are going down the route of something a little more choreographed to surprise and entertain their guests.

  1. Guest Entrance

It’s traditional to set up a receiving line so that the wedding party can formally greet each of their guests. Why not switch this up a little and make it a little more personal. Set up booths instead so greetings can be a little more personal and informal. Or, numbers permitting, have each guest announced formally by a master of ceremonies.
Wedding days are about formalizing your commitment and sharing your union with those nearest and dearest to you. Make it a memorable event by focusing on your entrances and making them creative, unusual and unique.
