{Real Plus Size Wedding} Movie Theater Wedding in Virginia by Chamberlin Photography
Of course I am partial to this wedding submitted by Chamberlin Photography because it’s from my home time, Richmond,Va and it took place in a movie theater. And the best part was seeing the couple’s names on the marquee. It must have been a great feeling to see that.
Veronica and Lee
Wedding Date: May 18, 2013
Wedding Location Richmond, VA
Number of guests: 225
Wedding Colors: Black and Silver
The most unique element of the day: Our reception was in an old movie theater. Having our name in lights in the marquee was beautiful. You can get a Marquee hire for your special event as well!
How did the two of you meet? At a party hosted by mutual friends Describe your engagement: Lee sent me on a scavenger hunt that ended at the place we met. All of our friends and family were there as he popped the question.
If we could have spend our wedding dollars differently, we would have: Spent less money on favors. Our hostesses forgot to even hand them out so we were stuck with 200 wine glasses engraved with our name. That money could’ve went to the videographer. Everyone loved the reception and no one noticed there were no favors.
The weather on your wedding was: Cloudy and Rainy Describe your wedding flowers: Purple and Lavender Roses accented with white hydrangeas
Our favorite detail of the wedding was: The personalized dinner napkins.
Describe your DIY décor, if any: We had cylinder vases of different heights wrapped in rhinestones and silver ribbons. There were also tree branches that were spray painted silver then put into pots. We decorated the trees with rhinestone ornaments and votives.
Your first dance song: Spend My Life with you by Eric Benet and Tamia The thing that we would have done differently is? Invested in lighting it would’ve given the room a beautiful ambience. We also would’ve hired a videographer. It wasn’t in the budget but it would’ve been wonderful to have our first dance recorded.
Describe your menu and your favorite part: We had a southern style menu and our favorite part was the home-style potato salad and macaroni and cheese.
Describe your wedding cake: There were three tiers flavored lemon and strawberry. It was white with silver ribbons and black accents.
Your advice for other plus size brides: I stressed so much over losing weight for the wedding and looking a certain way that I wasn’t able to lose a pound. Your fiancée loves you just the way you are. Find a gown that accents your favorite assets and put on your best accessory…. Your smile! You are beautiful and no matter the size of the dress you make it beautiful!
Three adjectives that describe the day: Memorable, Exciting and Beautiful What has surprised you most during the first few months of marriage? How easy it was to merge our lives. We didn’t live together before we were married so this, we thought, would be a challenge. But with love and cooperation we have made it work.
