Motivation Mondays: Let Your Style Speak For You

Your clothes say a lot about who you are and what you think of yourself. Always make sure what they are saying is what you want them to be saying! Quote from a friend here at Pinterest. I second it. If I offend I am sorry. But sometimes little things need to be pointed out.

In my high school, all the students were required to wear uniform, but there were some special days during the year where we could dress-down and wear whatever we wanted. I remember that on these days, I played the “fashion show” game in which I tried to mimic the clothing style of someone else because I thought what they wore looked cool. If one girl wore a blue, frilly shirt, I’d wear a blue shirt that was sort of frilly. If another girl wore jeans that was covered in glitter, I’d try to douse my own jeans with some glitter from an arts and crafts store. I played this game for awhile and it got to the point where I realized that I was trying too hard. In the end, I just wanted to wear the clothes that I wanted to wear because it would show everyone what kind of person I was. Basically, I wanted to have my own style, but it would take me years before I found it.

Like this quote, I believe that what we wear says more about our personality than what we say. Clothing is the gateway to making lasting impressions on people and allows you to show off your character by wearing it on your sleeve, literally. What better way to make a statement about yourself by having a state shirts than to walk into your closet and put it on? From casual to preppy or punk to chic, there are a slew of styles to choose from which means that there is an abundance of personalities for everyone of all shapes and sizes, especially plus size women to try on. For me, I think I’m more of the flirty, casual type. I like wearing shirts or tanks that are frilly or have a lace design on them and usually wear leggings or jeans as a bottom. I think this shows that I can be pretty and laid-back at the same time.

So my advice to you is to wear the clothes that best fits your personality. Don’t wear a certain style of clothing just because you saw someone else wearing it. Wear what makes you feel comfortable and wear what you feel describes who you are as a person.
