Engagement | Dawson Creek Proposal Leads to North Carolina Engagement Session

This engagement session is just gorgeous! Bride Victoria was proposed to on one of the most infamous locations for any 90’s kid. On the dock of Dawson Leery’s home! Yep you heard it right the dock of the show Dawson’s Creek. I have to personally admit that, that show was one of my favorite shows EVER! Interested in finding out about the show check out the box set of the whole series. So it was so fitting for this super cute couple to try and recreate the atmosphere of their proposal in this garden engagement.

From the Bride To Be: Photography is something that is near and dear to my heart. So when it came time to find someone to shoot our engagement session I was at a loss. My sister Katelynn kept saying she could take the pictures for us with my camera and it would allow me to edit my own engagement pictures. It was something I wasn’t sure about but after seeing the finished product I am so happy I did! We are getting married in Wilmington, North Carolina on April 7th, 2017. My fiance proposed on THE dock  from my favorite childhood teen soap opera Dawson’s Creek. So while we live in Florida I still wanted to capture that same feeling I had going to Wilmington for our engagement. Lush flowers. Big tall trees. Playful yet romantic.

Victoria & Anthony

Tell us about your first meeting.. Her : We met outside of our side by side apartments buildings when he was coming home front work. He asked me if I had a boyfriend. I said no. He asked if he could “approach” me. And I laughingly said yes. Very simple love at first sight scenario. There were sparks immediately. Him: As i was returning from work one night I saw the girl that i had seen the previous night upset and being consoled by her roommate. She was standing under the same tree I saw her the night before and I couldn’t help but to be compelled to ask her if she was doing better. Tell us about your First Date… Her: He got me a job 3 days later at this adorable authentic Italian restaurant he was serving at. We just fell in love. He would whisper Italian love song dedications in my ear. I would watch as he laughed and befriended the customers. We became inseparable from that point on. Him: We went out on a double date with a co worker from the restaurant we worked together at, after work one night to a local Applebee’s. It never seemed like a first date though because we had already spent so much time around one another and had already began to fall for one another, little did either one of us know but we were already both head over heels for one another. Tell us about your First Kiss… Her: He stole it while I was sitting on his couch watching tv. He just walked right up to me from a different room and kissed me. Him: We were just hanging out in my apartment at the time i believe i had begun to walk from the living room to my master bathroom and halfway i just spontaneously decided to go back and surprise kiss her, i guess i couldn’t hold it in anymore it was not as awkward as i thought it was going to be it was really sweet, and it just felt right. Tell us about the proposal… Her: We went to his hometown last October for his brothers wedding. He set up a trip to go to Wilmington. It has been a dream since I was 13 to see all the Dawson’s Creek locations & One tree Hill locations. We drove 3 hours from his family in NC. Airlie Gardens was our first stop and we walked the historic gardens that they also filmed both shows at. After we heading to the Dawson Leery house and he got permission from the owner to visit the Dawson Leery property. He proposed on the dock on the creek with no one around on one knee. He just asked me if I’d make him the happiest man alive and if I’d marry him. I immediately starting crying and told him to let me take a picture of him. It still gives me butterflies. Its a beautiful home that looked exactly how all my teenage dreams hoped lol. Him: I knew our trips to North Carolina would come few and far between so i knew this was my chance to catch her off guard at her childhood dream location. So upon finally finding the Leery house she was so aw-struck that i knew she hadn’t the least idea. As we walked down the long dock over 10 feet above the water I had to wait for a moment to catch her off guard so i pointed across the inlet towards a house on the creek. As she turned around she realized quickly what was happening. It was so special to both of us a dream shared, and another adventure to add to our life-book. Write a short letter to each other Her:  My dear you have made my heart so happy. I always believed in the happily ever after but didn’t necessarily believe it was possible for me. I truly thank God everyday for you being by my side. I look forward to each day with you but especially the day I get to be your wife. You are my blessing & best friend. My happily ever after & I love you so. Him: My dear I never thought I’d be able to love again after losing my wife to cancer, but on her deathbed she wished that i would move on after her and be with someone more like myself. I truly believe that is what brought us together an angel bringing two hurt souls together to live, grow, and love one another in such a very special way that we share each day.
