As most of you all know, or if you didn’t know now you do, I am originally from Virginia and my husband is from there as well. We meet and started dating in Richmond but all of his family is from Virginia Beach and his mother went to Norfolk State. So of course when I got this engagement session in my inbox and saw where the couple was from and where the bride to be graduated from and that her graduating school was the location for the engagement session, I had to share it! Caitlin Gerres of Caitlin Gerres Photography did a phenomenal job of capturing the love that this beautiful couple has. It’s so funny how you can grow up someone where and move away and still feel like there is a connection to that place, to your hometown. That’s how I feel about VA, it will always be my spot…..like I like to call it.

Tell us about your first meeting:
{Marissa} We went to high school together and were in the same math class. I moved after 11th grade and we lost contact. We reconnected through Facebook in December of 2011 and became friends and grew closer.
{Adrian} We actually first met in a math class that we had in high school. We were reconnected through Facebook and the rest is history.
Tell us about your first: Date:
{Marissa} We went to the dinner and went to see The Hunger Games. it was an amazing first date and we hit it off immediately.
{Adrian} On our first date we went to eat at Red Robbins. It was awesome to see how she had matured and grown since I last seen her in high school. All I kept thinking about was how gorgeous she looked and how amazing her eyes were.
Tell us about your first kiss
{Marissa} It was very formal. He was always a gentleman. It was after I had went away on vacation for the first time. We has been inseparable so this was the first time we had been apart from each other for so long. When i came home there he was! He gave me a sweet peck before he hugged me!
{Adrian} Our first kiss was when she came back from a trip to St.Louis and I missed her so much I kissed her on her cheek. I surprised her because prior to that we’ve never kissed.
Tell us about the proposal:
{Marissa} He proposed the same day I graduated from Norfolk State University with my Bachelors in Nursing. My family and friends all went out to dinner to celebrate me graduating. After we ordered he gave me a poem to read and at the end of it he got down to one knee and asked me to marry him!. It was the best moment of my life!!!
{Adrian} The proposal was wonderful! Earlier that day she graduated from Norfolk State with her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and her family and I celebrated with her by taking her out to eat that night. Her family was in on it as they knew I would be proposing that night. I wrote a poem for her and I left it open at the end because that’s when I was going to propose. I told her that the poem was just a congratulation to her for graduating because I knew a lot of work went into her getting her degree. I asked her to read the poem and when she reached the end of it I dropped down on one knee and asked her to marry me! It was perfect!

I am so blessed to have you in my life. This journey is just the beginning and I cant wait to see what God has in store for us! I love you with all my life and am overjoyed that I am to be Mrs. Dean! I love you with my life!

Thank you for coming into my life. I’ve never known love the way I know it now. Now that I’ve experienced life with you I can’t imagine life without you. You are my best friend and I thank God each and every day for bringing us together. You mean the world to me. You are my backbone and my spiritual confidant that I can rely on at all times. You’ve given me more than I could ever ask for. To God be the Glory and I can’t wait until I marry you. I love you!
